Hello world!

I am Jingyi Zhu, a UX designer currently living in the Bay Area California. I enjoy employing my problem-solving mindset 🧠 and innovative perspective 🎨 to craft thoughtful solutions that benefit both users and business.

The majority of my projects are recognized for assisting purpose-driven organizations in developing user-friendly and practical platforms tailored to their communities. Social responsibility, scalability, and inclusiveness are fundamental to my approach. I firmly believe in the transformative potential of design and advocate for its use in creating significant and positive change.

Beside being a designer; I’m also a 'full-time' cat mom🐱, self-taught photographer📷, and astrology enthusiast🔮 currently. You can find me hiking in the fall/spring, skiing in the winter, and swimming in the summer.

How I stay grounded

Solve real problems. Make it useful before making it pretty. Good design is honest — it fits into people’s lives and quietly makes things better.

I ask questions early, build with others, and stay open to being wrong.  Get feedback often. Don’t fall in love with your first idea.

Collaboration beats solo genius. Simplicity matters — but only when it still tells the whole story.

How it works

My design process

Curious, collaborative, and a little chaotic (in the best way).

Before design, listen.

I start by observing, asking questions, and understanding how people actually live, work, and make decisions.I look for needs they don’t always know how to articulate — because that’s usually where the real opportunities are.

Zoom in, zoom out

I map the messy stuff: goals, pain points, edge cases.I zoom in to clarify details, then zoom out to make sure we’re solving the right problem — not just the obvious one.

Build together

I don’t believe in designing in isolation.I co-create with PMs, engineers, and users early on — sketching ideas, sharing fast, and shaping solutions that are feasible, lovable, and aligned.

Make it real

I prototype quickly — from low-fi flows to interactive mockups — to bring ideas to life before committing to code.It’s how I test assumptions, surface blind spots, and create clarity.

Tweak ‘til it clicks

I put designs in front of real users, look for friction, and listen carefully.Then I iterate until things feel intuitive — and ship with confidence, knowing it works in the wild, not just on Figma.
